RAYAGADA MUNICIPALITY

This Municipality in its beginning stage was constituted as Notified area Council vide Government Notification No.369/ LSG dt. 02.05.55 having wards covering Revenue village with total area of 16.41 sq. kms subsequently, it has been declared as Municipality by the Government of Odisha, Housing & Urban Development Department vide their Notification NO. 1038/HUD dt. 09.01.1971 . Now the Municipality comprises of 24 wards covering the 11 nos of Revenue Villages.

Location:

Rayagada is located on 830-25’ East longitude and 190-10’ North latitude at the foot of the Eastern part. The altitude is 687 feet above mean sea level. During the year 1937, the railway line was laid connection Raipur with Vizayanagaram and in 1940 a direct road was provided with Koraput via Laxmipur. It is situated on State High way – 4 connected to Koraput with Bissam Cuttack. The major district road No 48-B connects Rayagada with Parvatipuram in Andhra Pradesh 50 K.Ms away. It is also connected with Bhubaneswar, the State Capital by a shortest route Via the 132 K.V. Line route at distance of 400 K.M via Berhampur.

Formation of Municipal Council:

The present council has been constituted on 30.09.2013. Smt. V. Gouri Jayanti has been elected as Chairperson & Dr. Niranjan Prasad Buxipatra as Vice-Chairperson.

Health Section:

P Bala Raju, is working as Sanitary Inspector. The main duty of the health wing is to make the Municipal area clean, health & hygienic. The Municipality consists of 24 wards. The average generation of Solid Waste Management in the Municipality is around 26 tones per day. Currently JCB-1Nos, Tractor-4Nos, Auto Tipper – 2Nos and one Truck (dumper bin carrier Defunct), Cesspool-3 Nos.( 1 Defunct) have been deployed for transportation of wastes in all the wards managed by the Municipality sanitary staff. The Municipality itself managed 8 nos. of Wards and rest 16 nos. of wards are managed by Private Contractors where 4 nos. of tractor are engaged.
